This is not a medical mask approved for use in healthcare settings. This is a fabric mask.

The World Health Organisation as well as the South African Health Department have advised that wearing a suitable mask is effective in preventing Covid19 infections spreading. (https://sacoronavirus.co.za/2020/04/10/everyone-should-wear-a-face-mask/)

This mask is a re-usable and washable 3+1 ply fabric mask made from 2 layers of woven poly-cotton, and 1 internal poly cotton sleeve that can hold filter media.

Specifications:

-3+1 Ply Reusable/Washable Fabirc Masks
-Sleeve for Disposable filter (50gsm/Hepa/Tissue)

Breathability:

Materials used, number of layers and type of filter influence the breathability of any mask. This mask at 3 ply with no filter is approximately 80% effective and very breathable.

Each mask is made of:

- 2 external layers of woven poly-cotton

- 1 internal layer of soft fabric for comfort and to prevent chafing of the nose. This layer also forms the sleeve for insertion of filter media

- Two soft elastic connections which go around the head and neck for comfort (instead of the ear)

Sterilisation and disinfection:

During this crisis we are taking extra precautions. Each mask is heat sterilised and thereafter a process of Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation is applied to the masks before being sealed in a BOPP sleeve and then packed and sent to you.

Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) is a disinfection method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet (ultraviolet C or UVC) light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions. This is not the same as commonly available UV light lamps or UVA and UVB rays from the sun. UVC is a specialised form of UV light that is only available in devices approved for medical use

Deliveries are made by courier throughout South Africa. (Quantity discounts are available for this product)

Product FAQ:

Are filters included?

Filters are not included with your mask order. 50 gsm filters can now also be purchased from us by clicking here: 50 gsm filter for medical mask

What type of filters can be used?

50gsm Non-woven spunbond , HEPA filters, Paper towels and even tissue paper or wet wipes (once they are dry).

How often do I wash this mask?

We recommend that you wash the mask each time you were exposed to people other than your own members of the household. After washing place the mask in the sun for drying.

You can wash the mask once a week if you are only going out for grocery shopping. Some virologists suggest washing the mask every two uses outside.

If you were exposed to someone who was sick, or sneezing, or coughing then you should wash the mask immediately after returning.

You should always be careful when removing a mask that you avoid touching the front part of the mask. Wash your hands immediately after removing the mask and before touching your face.

How many times can I wash the mask before it loses its effectiveness?

Studies have not concluded what effect washing has on the filtration ability of mask fabrics. We do not suggest using strong detergents for washing your mask as it is thought they may damage the fibres and affect filtration sooner. It is preferred to use a standard detergent or soap and water and then leave the mask in the sun to dry. Check the mask for tears and wear from washing. If you notice this then the effectiveness of the mask has definitely decreased and you should use a new mask.

A safe guide would be to only wash the mask 60 times before using a new mask. While the fabric may appear intact we do not recommend using a mask that has been washed more than 90 times as micro tears may occur in the fabric from the washing process

Do you deliver during lockdown?

Yes, we are a medical supply company that is open and delivering during all stages of the lockdown

How long does delivery take?

During the lockdown couriers are managing deliveries between 2 to 5 working days from despatch (depending which part of South Africa you live in), production time is 1 to 2 days. Out of lockdown, delivery time by courier is normally 2 to 4 days.

How do I know what size I need?

Since a mask is not a regular item of clothing and is more about function than fashion, it does not lend itself to the same sizing conventions as regular clothing.

As a general rule average teens will find the small size suitable, average adult females will find medium comfortable and adult males will find the large size to be comfortable.

Please note that the kids size mask does not have a filter sleeve
